Speciality: Oceanic marine petrology, Hydrothermal activity constraind from petrology

Research

(A) Evolution of the oceanic mantle
Main fields for this scientific topic are oceanic islands and the ocean floor, from which mantle peridotites can be collected. With analytical application of nano- to micro-meter-scale techniques to tiny minerals therein, host minerals of platinum-group elements can be investigated. In addition, with measurements of bulk highly siderophile elements (HSE), I would like to reveal evolutionary process of the Earth.

(B) Hydrothermal activity beneath the ocean floor
Main fields for this scientific topic are ophiolites and the ocean floor, from which hydrothermally altered rocks can be collected. Through intensive investigations into μm-scale fluid inclusions therein, chemical characteristics of hydrothermal fluids can be investigated. I would like to reveal mechanism of the elemental mobility via hydrothermal activity.
